There is nothing quite like her

with her long needles shining

like gold in the sunlight

she stretches in all directions, 

each inch of growth marked with 

the wear of the desert

sand still caught in her grasp

from the winds the night before

she sways and with each gust

thrusts pieces of herself out 

away from her to continue her

command of the landscape

each small piece of her now a

piece of the desert, spreading her

reach further and further with 

every gust, every season until

there’s a sea of her seed throughout.
